Red Glass African Talhakimt
Item Id: TK111
These glass trade beads, known as Talhakimt, were made in Czechoslovakia and exported to West Africa. They were used as amulets and hair adornments by the Tuareg people in Mauritania and Mali. They are great for making jewelry, hanging on hoop earrings, and popular amongst tribal belly dancers for use in their costuming.
The patina, which is usually the ubiquitous West African mud embedded into them, will vary from piece to piece. Some pieces may have small chips or cracks due to use and vintage age. They are quite fragile. Sold individually.
Dimensions: 1.25" x 2".
