Uzbek Hair Tassels

These incredible flat displays of tassels are from Uzbekistan. The women used them as hair décor worn on the back of the head. They are loaded with glass beads, metal beads, buttons, and/or metal sequins known as mozuna.

Today's tribal belly dancer has many uses for them. They can be used on belts or panels. See Kami Liddle's fabulous Tribal Fest 8 performance on YouTube for an example! Or, if I dare say, you can cut them apart and use the tassels individually. A bargain buy! Or, hang them on the wall to make a fantastic ethnographic art display. The handwork in these pieces is fantastic and speaks for itself.
