Uzbek Sochpopuk Hair Décor

These incredible flat displays of tassels are called sochpopuk and are from Uzbekistan. The women used them as hair decorations and tied them onto the back of the head. These vintage tassels are loaded with glass and metal beads, buttons, metallic threads, and metal sequins known as mozuna. They can be hung on the wall to make a fantastic ethnographic art display. Tribal belly dancers use them on belts or panels. Or, dare I say, you can cut them apart and use the tassels individually. The handwork in these pieces is fantastic and speaks for itself. Uzbekistan.
