About the Class
Appropriate for the beginning
or beginning-intermediate
student, the class will focus
on building a foundation for
belly dance through the basics:
proper posture, isolations,
drills, strengthening exercises,
and stretches, all while learning
a fun combination in a positive,
upbeat environment!

Each session you will learn
a new combination consisting
of several moves. New moves
will be added each week as we build upon the layers
throughout the session. For the advanced beginner,
additional layers are added for even more challenge.
Emphasis will be on learning proper technique and form.

Finger cymbals will be used incorporating them with
movement. Basic Middle Eastern rhythms will be
introduced.

The class will help build a foundation of techniques,
moves, muscle memory, and confidence so that you can
successfully move up to the next level of the dance.

Each new session starts from the beginning again with
all moves, drills, and combinations broken down to the
basics so new students who have never belly danced
before won't be left behind!

Belly dance is for every age, every body type, and every
body size!

About the Instructor
Katherine has fond childhood memories of dancing in
the living room with her mother. Since then she has
enjoyed several styles of dance including Country,
Swing, Contra, Waltz, Cape Breton Step, Aerobic, and
Belly Dance. After seeing
Gypsy Caravan perform at
Bumbershoot in Seattle, she was immediately captured
by the earthy movements, the music, and the ethnic
costuming of Tribal belly dance and she embarked on
her belly dance journey. She was a founding member of
Wild Serenity Dance Tribe and owner of Silk Road
Tribal, a retail business specializing in ethnic jewelry,
textiles, costuming, and accessories for the Tribal and
Tribal Fusion belly dancer.
